Lake Taupo Forest Trust Building

Office building with interiors Turangi

LTFT required a new building that reflected their business and culture to be located in Turangi on the southern shores of Lake Taupo. ( 1998)

The building design reflects traditional Māori building values in a modern building form, with in internal flow following the Marae values of greeting location and internal and external waiting areas off the formal meeting spaces.

Plywood cladding was used to the exterior, with timbers milled from the trusts forests used for features and furniture.  Native timbers we used to sand cast table legs, feet door and drawer handles.

The architect designed the interiors, and provided full architectural services including furniture procurement much of which was bespoke.
